"Thinking Visually" and "Feeling Visually" are important IR methods

With Darren Moon, I teach Visual Analysis and Filmmaking as Research Methods, a 2-week module for PhD students and faculty. In the first hour, students get the camera kit and start to make research films:
(1) a 3-minute “silent movie” to train them in visual story-telling
(2) audio-video interview techniques
(3) combining observational and interview techniques for a social science documentary
